This issue is very personal to me, the instigator of this petition. I firmly believe that it’s not a level playing field for our girls when biological males are allowed to compete against them in high school sports. The distinct biological characteristics between males and females naturally give the former an upper edge in physical sports, such as strength and stamina. According to a study conducted by the University of Manchester, males generally have an 8-12% advantage over females in elements such as speed and strength (Source: University of Manchester, 2018). I and many others believe that allowing transgender female athletes in high school girl's sports alters the spirit of fair competition. I urge school sports associations and governing bodies to reconsider and revise their policies to reflect this concern. I am not against transgender rights but believe in maintaining a fair competitive environment for young female athletes.
