I was incredibly frustrated when I tried to purchase tickets for an event listed at £148 on Ticketmaster, only to find out that the company labelled the tickets as "in demand," and drastically inflated their price during checkout. I'm tired of opportunistic practices that capitalize on the demand for popular events and disappointment seems a small word to describe the situation.

It should be illegal for any company, including Ticketmaster, to tout their own tickets, leading to doubling or even tripling the original price. This unfavorable practice defies the principles of fair trade for consumers and promotes capitalism at its worst. According to a government study, 80% of tickets sold on Ticketmaster are by professional scalpers, often employing dubious tactics to purchase vast numbers of popular tickets, therefore leaving genuine fans at disadvantage (UK Government report, Secondary Ticketing Market Study).

This cannot continue. All ticket buyers should be treated fairly, not being exploited based on popularity and demand. We demand concrete action is taken against such predatory practices, ensuring fans have fair access to their favourite events at realistic, advertised prices. This served as a wakeup call and inspired us to take action, leading to the creation of this petition.
