Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Our next coalition meeting will be held in-person on Thursday MAY 1, 7pm, at Seven Sirens Blendery, 1247 Simon Blvd N108, Easton, PA 18042. (located in the Silk Mill behind Spectracolor Coffee) If you would like to join us on a visit the proposed mega-warehouse site prior to the 5/1 meeting at 6:30, RSVP to: Stopwoodwarehouse@gmail.com
Two major developments have taken place this week:
First - Wilson has approved a tax break for Scannell on this project! We will discuss the impact of this on Thursday, to learn more check out this article from 4/28: Wilson OKs Tax Break for Million Square Foot Warehouse on Former Pfizer Site
Second - The Easton Area School Board has released a resolution against the development project. It will be presented to the Easton Planning Board at their next meeting on May 7 - if Scannell shows up. Learn more from today's article: EASD Approves Resolution: 'The Board Does Not Support the Easton Commerce Park'
The time has come for us to show up in person at the upcoming Easton Planning Commission meeting Wednesday MAY 7th at 6:30 pm at Easton City Council Chambers: 123 S 3rd St, floor 3, Easton PA 18042 - wear black clothing
We are staying on top of the meeting agendas and will notify the coalition immediately if Scannell drops out of the meeting again, wasting the City and citizen's time and money. If you are interested in crafting a public statement but don't know where to start you can download a pdf of the Preparing Public Comments Workshop at the bottom of this email.
We have hired professionals for an independent analysis and have spent considerable funds on printing promotional items. No one in our coalition is being paid - we are all volunteers - but we do need to raise money to cover costs. Please DONATE to the fundraiser on GiveButter, a platform designed especially for fiscal sponsorship (Overtown Media + Arts is our sponsor - which means you can make a tax-deductible donation) SHARE with friends and family too!
Be sure to sign the PETITION and keep up to date on FB, IG and our website
Last weekend's Arbor Fest was a great success! We collaborated with Overtown Media + Arts and made sun prints while also informing people on the issues and severity of the proposed mega-warehouse. Thanks to all who volunteered and all those who attended!
This weeknd is the Easton Cemetery 4th annual Green Trail 5k. If anyone would like to watch the race, flyer, and be in community, join Leo and Cody at 410 N 10th Street any time from 9 - 12pp on Sunday May 4th.
I hope to see you at the meeting - you can pick up flyers, postcards, and posters to help spread the word tabout the mega-warehouse to everyone!
Please email directly to become an active volunteer - it is going to take all of us!
