Stop the weekend closure of banks

As a customer who relies on accessing banking services over the weekend, the prospect of a five-day banking week is concerning. Like many others, my job during the week keeps me from visiting the bank during typical work hours. Banks, after all, are public utilities that must accommodate the schedules of their diverse clientele.
The recent push for a nationwide bank strike, with employees advocating for a five-day work week, highlights a crucial debate: the need for a fair work-life balance against the responsibility banks have to serve the public. While it's essential for bankers and all workers to enjoy time with their families, especially on weekends, closing banks on weekends limits crucial access for many citizens. It could leave countless people, particularly those with rigid weekday schedules, without the banking services they need.
Starbucks found a way to offer their employees fair working conditions while maintaining excellent customer service, why can't banks? By designing flexible schedules or rotating shifts, banks can continue to operate efficiently over the weekend and ensure that employees still get their well-deserved time off.
Moreover, the economic repercussions of a strike are vast. Banks are integral to the economy; small businesses often depend on timely transactions and financial advice to thrive. When these services become unavailable, their businesses suffer, affecting the larger economy in turn.
