Stop the Vulcan Asphalt Plant in Sahuarita

The Issue

Sahuarita is a safe place for many families, elderly people and children. The town of Sahuarita is planning to build an asphalt plant in an area near Quail Creek, an age restricted area where many people in the community are at high risk for developing issues due to the fumes of the asphalt plant. The plan is ignorant to the families in the area and generally wrong. Some possible affects of this plant are: Rashes due to fumes, throat and eye irritation due to fumes, Headache and fatigue due to fumes, skin Cancer due to fumes, Poor air quality, Foul smell emitted from plant, Fumes could affect how the orchards continue to grow as well. Many people move to Arizona to ecape poor air quality, smog and other issues caused by pollutants, why would we defend the decline of air quality if it’s one of the most attractive things about our town? It’s shown that 45% of residents of community’s near asphalt plants have reported deteriorating health, we cannot let this happen to our community. We must take action.
