In its May 2024 Budget, the Victorian government said:

“With this year’s Budget, we are making an unprecedented multi-year investment of more than $11 billion in our health system – providing the funding certainty hospitals need to plan for the future. 

This will ensure hospitals can keep caring for patients as they continue to recover from the impacts and increased costs of the pandemic.”

Now the Victorian government wants to slash hundreds of millions of public hospital funding, yet it says “there should be no impact to patient care"!

Some public hospitals in Victoria are already placing a freeze on recruitment, and planning to close down vital health services.

The Victorian government must be held to account for its May 2024 Budget commitment to funding public hospitals. Patient care must not be compromised.

Ask her to uphold the Victorian government’s May 2024 Budget commitment to funding public hospitals.

Tell her that slashing funding to Victorian public hospitals will impact patient care, contrary to what her government has said.

We must hold governments accountable for how they manage public funding.
