GREAT NEWS: At the VSB Board meeting this past Monday, May 28, it was announced that VSB planners will be extending the current school catchment review process to January 2019. Instead of taking the current proposal to Board Trustees for a vote at the end of next month (June), VSB staff will spend an additional seven months to revise their catchment adjustment proposals and revisit current policies based on the overwhelming feedback they have received from families and from supporters of online petitions like this one. There will be another public consultation process in February/March 2019 during which time the revised proposal will be open for additional public feedback. Once all feedback has been incorporated, the revised proposal will be put to the Board of Trustees for a vote in April 2019. If the revised proposal is approved, the changes would then take effect in 2020-21. We are so pleased that the VSB is taking our concerns and feedback seriously. This is definitely a step in the right direction and we hope the VSB will seek out real solutions to alleviate enrollment pressure at schools that will minimize disruption to the lives of existing families living close to the schools. A big thank you to all who submitted feedback to the VSB and for supporting this online petition! This petition will remain live to provide updates as the VSB moves through their extended review process.
