Stop the use of Yondr Pouches and revise the current cellphone policy at Sayre
The Issue
The current cellphone policy enacted by the School District of Philadelphia and adopted by William L. Sayre High School is posing as problem to the students attending. Students are being written up, getting strikes and being suspended for simply having their phones out.
Harboring a phone free environment at school does not help student on their academics but rather makes them more rebellious and more prone to disciplinary actions that may affect their academics and well-being. The Yondr pouches being used to lock up phones may also pose as an injurious threat and may also be used to smuggle in prohibited items to school.
We, the Junior Defenders of William L. Sayre High School, call for a revision of the current cell phone policy where students are not barred from using their cell phones, only those responsible for violating rules should be facing consequences not everyone else and limit or entirely ban the use of Yondr pouches.
