Missouris Public service commission allowed a 12% increase in rates for electricity- with further increases in the future supposedly. 

My electric bill skyrocketed from approximately $60 a month for a two-person household to an exorbitant $300, even though we've been using less electricity than before. I'm not alone in this; many others are experiencing similar, outrageous hikes in their electric bills. This financial burden is becoming unbearable for numerous families who are already struggling to make ends meet.

It's time we address this pressing issue and stand against the skyrocketing electricity costs imposed by large utility companies, whose only interest appears to be increasing their profits at our expense. Many of these companies operate without any competition, giving them the freedom to increase rates as they please, leaving consumers with no choice but to pay the inflated prices. Statistics indicate that since 2020, utility rates have increased by over 25% in various regions, disproportionately affecting low and middle-income families who can't bear such economic strain.

We need stringent regulations in place to oversee these unwarranted rate hikes and ensure transparency in billing processes. Governments must step in and hold electricity companies accountable, demanding justification for every dollar charged. Additionally, we should urge for more investment in renewable energy sources, which are not only sustainable but could help reduce the long-term cost of electricity.
