The issue

The Australian Government's substantial increase in Bridging Visa B (BVB) fees is placing an unfair financial burden on thousands of parent visa applicants and their families.
Many parent visa applicants have already paid tens of thousands of dollars in visa application charges and continue to face waiting periods exceeding 10 years before a decision is made. During this time, a Bridging Visa B is often the only way they can travel overseas and return to Australia lawfully.
For many parents, travelling overseas is not a holiday or luxury. It is often necessary to visit sick family members, attend funerals, support ageing relatives, maintain cultural and family connections, and respond to family emergencies. The increased BVB fee makes such travel significantly more difficult and unaffordable.
Parent visa applicants have already made a substantial financial contribution to Australia through expensive visa application fees. Asking them to pay excessive additional costs simply to maintain family connections while waiting many years for a visa outcome is unreasonable and unfair.
Australia is built on strong family values and multicultural communities. Policies that effectively prevent elderly parents from seeing their loved ones overseas for years at a time contradict these values and create unnecessary hardship for families who have followed all migration requirements.
We call on the Australian Government to:
Review and reverse the excessive increase in Bridging Visa B fees.
Introduce reduced or concession fees for parent visa applicants.
Ensure visa applicants waiting in long-term queues are not unfairly penalised.
Support family unity and compassionate migration policies.
We have already paid significant visa fees and waited long enough. We should not be priced out of seeing our families.

Sign this petition if you believe parent visa applicants deserve fair treatment, affordable travel options, and the opportunity to maintain family connections while waiting for their visas to be processed.
