Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared—we have reached over 460 signatories, with 97% of us being local Cheltenham Township residents!

Here are the eloquent words of neighbor Irina Bakis, who signed the petition yesterday:

“These last few weeks have shown how much our community cares about this issue. I don’t fully understand all of the legal issues outlined in the petition, but I do understand common sense, and abandoning the beautiful Conklin property and replacing it with a much smaller property in the middle of a development simply doesn’t make sense to me. I would like to hear from different experts about what it would actually take to repair and preserve Conklin before such an important decision is made. I trust our leadership to listen carefully to everyone’s concerns and ultimately make a decision that is thoughtful, transparent, and sound, even if it may not be the decision everyone supports.”

I certainly couldn't have said it better myself! As we await upcoming legal rulings in the Court of Common Pleas, here are 5 quick actions you can take today to keep the momentum going:

  • Share with 3 Local Neighbors: Text or email this petition link directly to 3 friends or neighbors in Cheltenham who care about local transparency and taxpayer dollars. Personal texts make the biggest difference!
  • Attend Wednesday's Board Meeting: Join us in person at the Board of Commissioners meeting this Wednesday evening (7:30 at Curtis Hall and via Zoom) to make your voice heard during public comment.
  • Email Your Ward Commissioner: Send a quick 2-sentence email directly to your ward's Commissioner asking them to respect the Home Rule Charter and enforce competitive bidding on the Melrose Pool project.
  • Submit Written Public Comment: If you can't attend Wednesday in person, email your written public comment to the Acting Township Manager Allyson Elliot (aelliot@cheltenhampa.gov) ahead of the meeting so it is read into the official record.
  • Join the Friends of Conklin Pool: Share your love and appreciation for historic, verdant Conklin Pool on this new Facebook group.
