Approaching 450; Friends of Conklin Pool on Facebook

Hi Friends, we’re just under 450 neighbors who’ve signed the petition so far. Please keep telling people and sharing. The more the merrier, to be sure. Please write your Commissioner to tell them that you oppose the unbid Melrose project. 

• If the lawsuit successfully stops the unbid contract, there is a danger that the township will close Conklin next year (even though they’ve publicly said that it can operate next year). For those who want to save Conklin Pool, a crucial next step is getting organized to advocate for replacing the pool at Conklin if that is deemed necessary. To that end, I created a Friends of Conklin Pool group on Facebook. For now, let this be a place to enhance and strengthen the vibrant community at the pool. I highly encourage you to join the group and share memories, experiences, photos, appreciations, and so forth. I also think that an organized Friends group could do amazing things for the community at the pool: barbecues, volunteer gardening, live music, workdays, fundraising, and so on. Let’s use the group as a place to share what we love about Conklin. Please join, post, and tell your friends.
• The August Board of Commissioners meeting takes place this Wednesday at 7:30 at Curtis Hall and via Zoom. Citizen’s Forum is at the end of the agenda, but I encourage anyone who is able to attend and make your voice heard. The more people are on the record voicing their opposition to the unbid Melrose contract and the closure of Conklin Pool, the better. I will try to consolidate the petition data and read it into the record that evening. It would be wonderful to have over 600 signatures by then.
