Hi everyone!
It has been 24 hours since we have shared this petition and we are glad to see we are not alone in our desire to save Frenchtown from being soiled by a Truck Stop and Travel Plaza! When I google the population of Frenchtown and Huson, it is 1629 and 256 people, respectively. We have received roughly half the amount of signatures of the population in 24 hours. I know we need to take into account the Wye as well, but this is impressive. Please note, both spouses can sign the petition, they just need to click on the link from separate devices. Also, you have to have a legitimate or correct e-mail address for your vote to count. Please keep sharing and spreading the word.
We are awed and inspired by our ability to band together to make change and say NO to outside influences that will hurt our community. We are not advocators or petitioners, and it is way outside our comfort zones, so thank you very much for your support and effort in getting the word out to get this stopped. I plan to print petitions and share them with local businesses, such as Broncs, Frenchie's, and perhaps the Post Office; as many in Frenchtown and surrounding residents are not computer savvy and they deserve to know what is going on and have a voice. If this is something that anyone would like to help with, I would appreciate any and all help. Here is an update of helpful information that I want to pass on.
- The West Valley Community Council is a liaison between Frenchtown and surrounding, and Missoula County Commissioners. They are aware of this issue, here is their response: Reagan Mecham: Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Sierra! I’ve forwarded this information to the County Commissioners and am working to get someone from Development Review Services at County Planning to attend a West Valley Community Council meeting to discuss the project. I’m proposing a special WVCC meeting in July dedicated to this topic. I’ll keep you posted as we would LOVE to have community members attend and share their concerns directly with the County. *I will share the information about the meeting details when I hear.
- Now that we have a petition in place, a next step would be to reach out to the Missoulian to share our story. If anyone has a contact or connection and would like to do that, it would also be appreciated.
I will update soon and as I know more and feel free to reach out to me if you need anything: fazzinas1@aol.com
