Stop the subdivision in our community's farmland

The Issue

Our Joyner community is facing a significant threat to its natural beauty and resources—a proposed subdivision that aims to cover our cherished farmland with tightly packed houses. This farmland is not only stunning in its natural beauty but essential to our local ecosystem and the lifestyle we cherish. As someone living right next to the area, I feel compelled to take action to protect this land for my family, my neighbors, and future generations.

This small community, nestled in the heart of nature, is simply not equipped to absorb such a sizeable development. Our roads are narrow and ill-prepared to handle the increase in traffic. Our utilities, already strained, cannot sustain the additional load without considerable—and costly—upgrades. Furthermore, our local schools are already at capacity, and this development would only further strain our education system, potentially affecting the quality of education our children receive.

The environmental impact is another concern that cannot be ignored. Farmland serves as a crucial habitat for wildlife and supports biodiversity. Unchecked development puts this at risk, replacing fields and open spaces with concrete and asphalt, disrupting the natural balance and potentially harming the local ecosystem.

The decision-makers must recognize that any short-term economic gain from this subdivision is vastly outweighed by the long-term harm to our community and environment. We have the power to propose alternative solutions that meet housing needs without sacrificing our farmland. We can advocate for urban infill development, which could reutilize underused properties in existing urban areas and thus preserve our beautiful lands.

We need your help to show that our community stands united in the face of this proposed subdivision. Sign this petition to demand that our local authorities reject the plan for the subdivision and explore more sustainable development options that do not compromise our farmland and resources. Together, we can protect the land that defines our community and contributes so much to our way of life.

Please join me in preserving the natural beauty of our home. Sign the petition today and help stop this unnecessary subdivision development.
