The Union that represents the teachers of Ontario Colleges has announced strike action to start Friday if conditions are not met. 

The objective of this petition is to call on the union to NOT strike and continue their work-to-rule efforts AND for the Ontario Legislative Assembly to create legislation that prevents the union from striking and only allows them to continue the work-to-rule efforts.

The students of all the Ontario colleges have already lost enough this semester with the pandemic and our learning has already been condensed. We cannot afford to lose anymore valuable instruction time.

This strike will affect more than just the students, it will affect our province as a whole. Our province currently has a shortage of workers, specifically in the Health Care fields such as Nursing, Respiratory Technicians, Ultrasound Technicians, Radiology Technicians and Paramedics. With a strike, thousands of students would not graduate and thousands of jobs would not be filled in May.

This strike affects all the people of Ontario, not just the students. We are asking that you please sign this petition and send emails to the colleges and your local MPP’s. This is OUR future. Let’s make it better.

We have until Thursday, March 17 at 11:59PM to get this done, so let’s work as a province and come together to prevent the strike.
