Thank you for your support!
While our accomplishment in blowing past the dog haters petition (Us/293-Them/82-as of 4/7/24 3pm) is awesome in terms of numbers and time, our job is not done. The order to remove the nearly complete Temporary dog park at Oak Creek Community Park has not yet been rescinded and final construction restarted. It is just paused. Kathleen Haton (Senior Planner) has now referred me to Corey Lakin, and Dena Diggins, both Deputy Directors of Community Services. I will be reaching out to them tomorrow (Monday the 8th of May) to see what the status of the Temporary dog park is. Which brings me to the need to spread the word each time a notable change happens.
Instead of bombarding you with regular emails, I have registered the domain IrvineDogParks.com and will post updates there. Better late than never, this domain will also be used by the Irvine Dog Parks association that is currently being organized. It is time to have higher quality engagement with Irvine where the dog park(s) are concerned and the association will help with that. The website is currently just linking to the petition but will soon have its own email list for the Irvine Dog Parks Association.
Also, thanks for sharing the petition. Please advise those you share it with they can skip donations via change.org as they are just paid search engine campaigns and not as effective as word of mouth.
In summary, the Temporary dog park status is in LIMBO, with an update expected on Monday. We have a domain for updates and the future Irvine Dog Park Association (IrvineDogParks.com).
Sincerely,
Crit Van Tuyl
