Stop The Social Media Bans

The Issue

Okay people, lets be real.

The social media bans that started with Australia and are now threatening to also take place in Europe are not helping anyone.

Even if the governments are celebrating their "safe environment", it is 100% not safe.

You see, what governments try to forget is that kids are determined. So determined, that they'll do anything -and I mean it- to be online.Believe me, I've experienced that too. That means that kids/teens will just migrate to more unknown, dangerous and not affected by the law platforms or -as it happened in Australia- use VPN to "cheat the system".

Now, there's another thing.A ban might seem like the best solution, but the truth is that governments are just bored to teach teenagers advanced digital safety and generally don't "push" the companies that own these platforms to make their social media/s more safe and less addictive to use, because right now, these same companies only want to make money from the ads that you watch on the platforms/apps that they own.

Also, some people like LGBTQ+ teens or kids with special needs may be completely cut off from socialization. Some others might have social media to -for example- see the news, and if they're banned, that won't be able to get information. And I know what the parents will comment for this section."It shouldn't be that way, they should be able to socialize or get information without social media." Well, if they're homeschooled or live in a very small community, how?

So yeah, we shouldn't blame anyone but the companies and the governments -sorry if I sound like an anarchist, that's not my point-.This is my opinion on this whole thing, you might have a different one and I respect that.

Here's my conclusion:

We are not the ones responsible for explicit or adult content, online bullying -okay, some of us are- or addiction in social media. No, it's the companies' and governments' fault, so they shouldn't try to ban us for our "safety".
