Stop the Slaughter of Yellowstone's Iconic Bison

Stop the Slaughter of Yellowstone's Iconic Bison
The Issue
Every year, hundreds of wild bison that roam from Yellowstone National Park are brutally killed or shipped to slaughterhouses—simply for crossing invisible park boundaries in search of food and space.
The slaughter is happening right now.
World Animal News reports, "Over 630 bison have already been captured just inside Yellowstone’s boundary this winter. Chased down on horseback and held in pens, these individuals are being funneled to slaughterhouses—nearly 300 have been killed so far."
These bison, symbols of American heritage and resilience, are being targeted under outdated management practices driven by unfounded fears of disease transmission to cattle. Despite there being no verified cases of bison transmitting brucellosis to livestock in the wild, they continue to be punished for following their natural instincts.
This inhumane treatment is not only unnecessary, it’s unethical. Yellowstone bison are the last pure descendants of the millions that once roamed North America freely. They deserve our protection, not persecution.
We demand that federal and state agencies—including the National Park Service, USDA, and Montana state officials—end the annual slaughter of Yellowstone bison. We urge the adoption of non-lethal management strategies and expanded protected habitat to allow bison to migrate safely without facing a death sentence.
It’s time to respect nature, science, and our moral responsibility.
Sign this petition to protect Yellowstone’s wild bison before more are lost forever.
