Stop The SJ Shire From Handing West-Mundijong To AUKUS
The issue
For as long as I've lived in Mundijong, I've always cherished our abundance of nature here, and the benefits it brings, both mentally and physically, but recently, the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire has recently proposed the idea of letting AUKUS get it's hands on the West-Mundijong Industrial Precinct. Specifically opening up our land to privatised defence manufacturers, considering how large-scale this would be, it would almost certainly cause detrimental effects to our environment, and to the community. While some may point out the job opportunities this would create, which is a point the SJ Shire has made, what I say is, why should we feel the need to decide between supporting the local economy, or supporting our local ecosystem? The truth is, we don't need to compromise, we can have a healthy local economy without destroying our local environment, and we can have a strong and healthy environment, without having our local economy suffer. If you agree that a development like this is harmful, ignorant, and simply just a cash-grab, I urge you to sign my petition.
