The Issue

Dear Ludo Studio, BBC Studios, Disney, and Whomever Is Currently Holding the Rendering Sliders —

We are writing to you today as broken, deeply concerned, very sleep deprived parents, older siblings and grown adults who watch Bluey without children present.

It’s no longer just a rumor. It’s a cold, hard, third dimensional rendered reality. Grab your safety blankets, folks — the upcoming Bluey movie is actually being animated in 3D and my inner child is currently crying in a corner.

3D?!

Have we learned nothing from history? Did we retain anything from Homer Simpson accidentally discovering he could pass through the drywall of the beloved  742 Evergreen Terrance into another dimension?

Do you truly wish to bestow upon our innocent eyes a hyper-detailed, fully textured, light-rendered Bandit Heeler where we can see individual strands of dog fur and the eerie depth-perception of his square snout?

Bluey and Bingo are supposed to be bright, wonderful, flat little 2D rectangles. They are functional, aerodynamic and perfectly geometric. Making them 3D turns them from lovable cartoon Heelers into dynamic physics objects that belong in an anxiety inducing video game.

What happens if we let this movie stay 3D?

Shadows: Real-time ray tracing will reveal the existential horror of where their ears actually connect to their heads.

Muffin: A 3D rendered Muffin on a sugar crash, moving with fluid multi-axis motion, will strike genuine primal fear into the hearts of toddlers everywhere.

The Flatbush Society: Chattermax in 3D will look like a rogue furby that escaped a government testing facility.

We do not want IMAX-ready, high-polygon, hyper-realistic Australian flora and fauna. We want flat colors! We want sharp corners! We want the traditional, 2D art style that feels like a warm hug and a soft playmat.

Please leave the 3D depth to Pixar and keep our favorite Heelers flat, square and wonderfully two-dimensional.

🎯 Petition Stretch Goals

10,000 Signatures: We officially send a nicely formatted, very polite email to Ludo Studio attached to a picture of Unicorse eating a rendering GPU.

25,000 Signatures: We demand a public promise that Chattermax will never be rendered with photorealistic feathers, textures, or real-time shadow physics.

50,000 Signatures: Bandit must release an official 2D-only statement while doing the lawnmower dance to reassure the public that everything is going to be okay.

100,000 Signatures: If they still insist on 3D animation, they must agree to animate Muffin entirely as a vibrating 1998 Microsoft Paint drawing to balance out the realism.

500,000 Signatures: The entire movie budget is officially redirected toward making a 10-hour theatrical release of “The Sign 2: Electric Boogaloo”, fully animated in glorious, original, flat-rectangle 2D.

Since this worked for Sonic, why not our beloved Bluey?!
