Last week, a Jewish community center in San Antonio had to shut its doors because of threats of violence. It wasn’t an isolated incident—it’s part of a disturbing rise in antisemitism across Texas, from schools and universities to religious spaces and online platforms.

Jewish students are being targeted on campuses. Synagogues are increasing security—or closing temporarily. And families who simply want to gather in peace are being forced to fear for their safety. This is not just unacceptable—it’s dangerous.

We know that hate doesn’t go away on its own. It takes action—through education, accountability, and strong, visible leadership.

We are calling on the Texas Legislature, the State Board of Education, and Governor Greg Abbott to expand Holocaust and antisemitism education in public schools, increase funding for community security grants, and establish clear consequences for hate-fueled threats and harassment. Texans deserve to live without fear—regardless of their faith.
