On behalf of the of the Old Grammar School Charity and the Faversham Society we're delighted to inform you that on Friday 28th November, at an Emergency Meeting, Faversham Town Council, voted unanimously to withdraw it's request for part of the path, known for generations as the Shooting Meadow Path, to be renamed Queen Matilda's Place.
Swale Borough Council, the naming authority has agreed.
It has taken a year and has a backstory that might one day make it into a film script. But just as we were preparing for Court (seriously!) it has all come good.
This petition has been key. It showed the extent of support for respecting local tradition and history. More than 1,000 of you signed, bringing a small town campaign to the attention of the national press. If you want to find out more about the Faversham Society look here Home - The Faversham Society
Many many thanks and Happy Christmas
