Stop the relocation of the Vermont Passport Agency

Stop the relocation of the Vermont Passport Agency
The Issue
You may have seen our 20ish paper petitions throughout St. Albans town but we thought we could reach more people via a social media petition. Help spread the word and help us keep our agency in the delightful Franklin County!
The Vermont Passport agency was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, in an effort spearheaded by Senator Patrick Leahy to revive the north country, opened its doors in 2011. Since then, the agency and the City of St Albans have grown and thrived together, symbiotically
Our agency is now in danger of being moved out of Franklin County and down to Burlington/Essex. This proposed move to Chittenden County negatively affects not only the employees of the agency, many of whom will lose their jobs by default due to the compounded commuting burden, but everyone in Franklin County. We, the undersigned, representing agency employees, municipal employees, Franklin County residents, and local business owners and employees, are in serious risk of losing the agency and the year-round tourism it brings to the Main Street from out-of-town passport applicants.
By signing this petition you are helping us have a fighting chance in being able to stay local. We sincerely appreciate your time and effort!
