The Issue

We respectfully request the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, CBFC, and relevant authorities to review and halt the release of the upcoming movie Udaipur Files, scheduled for release on 11 July 2025. The film allegedly contains content that disrespects Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and could lead to serious law and order concerns in the country.

Petition Body:

We, the undersigned citizens of India and members of the global Muslim community, express our deep concern over the upcoming film Udaipur Files, which is reportedly set to release on 11 July 2025.

Based on promotional material and early reports, it is feared that the movie contains scenes or dialogues that are deeply offensive to the sentiments of Muslims around the world—particularly concerning Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Any form of depiction or misrepresentation of the Prophet is strictly prohibited in Islam, and such portrayals are seen as highly disrespectful and provocative.

Freedom of expression is a valuable right, but it must not come at the cost of religious harmony and the emotional well-being of millions. India is a diverse and secular country where people of all faiths coexist peacefully. Films that appear to target or misrepresent any religion or religious figure risk damaging that delicate balance and disturbing public order.

The release of such a film could lead to widespread protests, civil unrest, and a breakdown of law and order. It is not only a matter of faith but also one of national security and public peace. We urge authorities to take proactive steps before the situation escalates.

This petition does not seek to restrict artistic freedom, but rather calls for responsible filmmaking that respects the religious beliefs of all communities. No art form should become a tool to inflame tensions or promote bias, especially when it could lead to irreversible consequences.

We humbly urge:

1. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to re-evaluate the content of Udaipur Files.

2. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to consider placing a stay on the release pending investigation.

3. All producers and distributors involved to voluntarily suspend the film's release until proper review is conducted.

4. A transparent and peaceful dialogue between community leaders and filmmakers to avoid future misunderstandings.

We believe in peace, mutual respect, and constructive expression. Let us work together to ensure that cinema becomes a tool for unity, not division.
