Stop the release of OMG 2, a movie in which Lord Shiva discusses M*sturbation and Sex
The Issue
Dear Shri Anurag Thakur,
Namaste.
As you are aware, films in India play a big role in impacting the minds of people.
In the recent past we have seen the release of Adipurush - a film that trivializes Ramayana, Sri Ram, Sita Mata, Sri Hanuman.
Within a month of Adipurush, a foreign film Oppenheimer is released which brings Bhagwad Gita in the middle of a man and woman having sexual intercourse.
The clearance of such films by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) points to a collusion with the forces making such films.
Now we hear of the film Oh My God 2 (OMG 2) where the lead actor is presenting himself as Lord Shiva and is engaging in a discussion about masturbation and sex. Both the topics are being conflated with religion for cheap publicity and with a shallow understanding of all the topics mentioned herein, and with total disregard to societal sensibilities.
A film for young minds must focus to equip them to excel in education, fitness and be inspired by legends who take Bharat to Vishwaguru status. It must inspire them to emulate Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Maharana Pratap, Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Veer Savarkar to name just a few.
Topics such as sex education and masturbation are important and must be handled with care and not trivialised in such an insensitive way either.
The main subject and theme of OMG 2 is thus unacceptable and the movie needs to be stopped.
It may also be pertinent to note that such films are never made about Islam or Christianity. We should also contemplate why Hindus are always easy and soft targets?
We never imagined that in Bharat we would need to appeal to the government of Hon. PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji to take steps to stop the systematic debasement of our Gods, Goddesses and faith via movies.
We thus have the following requests for your perusal:
- OMG 2 should be stopped from release in both cinema halls and OTT platforms in India.
- In front of CBFC, OMG 2 may now twist to present Akshay Kumar as representative of Lord Shiva and not Lord Shiva himself. Even this is not acceptable. No remotest reference must be made to any Hindu Gods or Goddesses at all by these film makers.
- For their unpardonable sins, Government of India must issue guidelines to remove the team of OMG 2 i.e. Akshay Kumar, Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, Vipul Shah and others involved in this film from any brand ambassador-ship, consultant role or any other association that they may be currently with any Government body at Central or State levels.
Going forward:
- Any movie that makes reference to Hindu Gods, Goddesses, practices, culture, etc must be viewed and approved by a panel of Saints and Dharmik experts from various parts of India.
- No shooting of films in Temples, Ashrams, Mutts and / or any religious and pilgrimage places of the Hindus be allowed unless the screenplay is approved by a panel of Saints and Dharmik experts.
Building temples alone is not enough. We need to respect our Gods, Goddesses and our faith and the sentiments of the tolerant Hindu majority in every aspect of life.
Your actions in the context of OMG 2 will convey to us your respect for Sanatana dharma.
Warm regards
Ramesh Naidoo
