The Pier Gardens Cleethorpes  have always been a cherished retreat for so many residents. The sea view that stretches from Alexander Road to Sea  Road, is a sight of tranquillity that countless families, elderly individuals, and visitors have enjoyed for generations. However, the current plan to redesign and excavate the town end of Pier Gardens threatens to rob us of this precious haven.

The grass has been removed and the grounds have been made Flat and tarmacked spoiling the  original  character of the town end Pier gardens.

If you believe these deep excavations are causing damage and Flood risk to the former Pier garden grounds,contact Environment health and damage control at North east lincolnshire council with photographic evidence,Speak to the local coast guard about in herant flood risk of the former grounds deep and heavy not  necessary  excavations .

Suggestion write to the Building control Planning department for an urgent stop. on this project located within the council offices, as they are responsible for structure, Potential ground sinking Due to excavation and loss of Character  to the resort .

and report your findings  also to the omnibus submitting any evidence and raising a formal complaint  requesting an immediate halt to these destructive , disruptive on going works.

The ongoing work is disrupting the harmony and accessibility of this beloved garden, impacting local businesses and dampening the spirits of holidaymakers and residents alike. Businesses that once thrived on the traffic from visitors are now witnessing a decline, largely due to the closure of this central part of the town's end of the gardens.

We urge the North East Lincolnshire Council and the project managers, including contractors Maylim, to halt current efforts and reconsider the  reallocation of resources. Instead of focusing on the town end of Pier Gardens, we propose shifting these efforts to the far end, preserving the historic and cultural integrity of the beloved town section.

I encourage you,since the work has started to write to the Council and project manager,and Maylim requesting a urgent halt of the works, for a review to suggest that the Council reallocates the Funding  to the other end of the Pier gardens near Former fantasy Island or Wonderland, and  time is not on our side, you will need to get activity involved to stop these works.

You could also Petition in Person outside Pier,gardens with bill boards and take photos submit to the council your objections to the continuing works,,and state how the reconstruction of the town Pier gardens, is affecting your life and is not required,call on your local Mp depending where you live as they can support your case, Cleethorpes Mp is Melanie onn,  ,and favour a tidy up and local refurbishment over the planned works town end , of the Pier gardens,which once completed will change the Parks trajectory forever,its shocking ,Whilst North east Lincolnshire council say they are wanting to maintain character,and history instead there ripping it  up, ,digging up concrete, they have already removed the golf course ,if we are to salvidge this,we need to act fast,and request a stop to the works of town end Pier gardens underlining your reasons, residents will need to argue on these points to stop this project ,make in person appointments so the council cannot ignore you,and do not be swayed by  anything they say,because they will justify there actions stating this is in the interest of the community when actually the effect its having is detrimental to the economy and quality of life to local residents, the  elderly,holiday makers .Visitors  Businesses, provide evidence of your loses to the council as proof.

This collective decision could pave the way for reopening the gardens, benefiting businesses, bringing back tourists, and restoring a beloved amenity for our senior citizens.

Time, however, is pressing. The works have already begun, urging us to act swiftly and decisively. Let's unite in preserving our heritage and safeguarding the town end pier  gardens Cleethorpes  for current and future generations.

Calling for an Emergency halt, requesting  for funding to be reallocated down the other end of the pier gardens ,away from the Sea  rd .front,the Council said the town Pier gardens ,were in need of Significant  development and change ,There doing this against the  will  of the majority well i speak for the majority,and there will be consequences ro these deep excavation.s ,if we allow them to continue ,People are already suffering because of this and the Projects is 2 months in,I urge you to request an emergency stop to the deep excavation s of the Pier gardens,town end. is not required damage and Chaos is being caused to a excavation the majority did not want in the 1st place Please act now contact the council via formal complaint,because if Maylim go any further,with this project the damage and look of the Beloved  town end Pier gardens ,will be not only damaged .they will be  will be gone forever.

The Council used anti social behaviour and Significant change as a reason which arose  from their failure to maintain the grounds in the 1st place , as a reason for significant change ,you can challenge this ;and hold them to account.Citing the guise of anti social behaviour, as a reason to redesign  and re structure the gardens beyond its original authentic character,with little thought for the feelings of the local community and People who grew up and have lived in cleethorpes all there lives.

They could still proceed with an entrance from Waves to the sea  front ,at least then most of the gardens would be able to be restored back to  there  former glory ,

What the Council has done to the town end,pier gardens is actually quite serious ,and could be  seen as Misspent  Funds that were allocated for Maintenance and was used for re design  what was already a much loved beautiful garden.

If you did not want the gardens restructuring to this degree,You can use this in evidence against the council, stating that the Pier gardens town end became the casualty of Miss spent Funds , that went beyond Maintenance which the funds  was allocated for.

The council if found guilty would be required to pay these funds back ,and more than that they could face an order to reinstate the gardens back to their former character which means they could no longer proceed with the planned works.(make a note of this)

Further points  to argue  Council are using the guise of anti Social behaviour to remodel Town end Pier gardens ,

You need to Point out the Council failed to act ,they could have used Pcsos, Park ranges ,Wardens ,Care takers, to prevent the problem so they can be held to account for this.

2nd The Council say they are maintaining Character ,yet they have already removed  most  of all its original  features and require to  obliterate the Pier gardens ,with these  aggressive actions like  deep excavation You can argue this point also.

 

3rd  There is a lack of evidence for a graduated  response  disproportionate action (removal over Mitigation) and failure    on there part to consult with Security alternatives ,before taking this extensive aggressive action of deep heavy excavation when security alternatives could have been explored 

 

4th when they removed the Maze back in 2024 the Council failed to consult some councillors  they also used anti social behaviour asa reason for removing it,and defended there decision even though the anti social behaviour should have been dealt with by them they failed that is a security breach on there part ,

 

5th point to make Absence of evidence -based decision  making there is no Public record showing a Comparative assessment of cost -effectiveness between installing Improved lighting /cctv and the permanent removal of amenities and reason justifying demolition of the  former grounds.

Point 6 you can argue on Misleading consultation process,the recent engagement project for the   7.9 Million regeneration the  scheme failed to clearly state that features would be removed ,suggesting a predetermined .disproportionate plan rather than a considered approach to Security in accordance with the feedback.

Point 7 Councils neglect of passive Surveillance options -Such as Improving visibility,Clearing overgrown areas,or rearranging existing kiosk to increase oversight -where seemingly over looked in favour of a total removal.

Point 8 Alternative Management solutions Other options as menhend previous ,locking specific areas at night ,by installing Security gates ,Community Policing were not Presented as explored options prior to removing the Parks features.

Point 8 to point out Disproportionate Focus on events,over Community use of the town end Pier gardens the argument that space is required for events like Armed forces ,Day suggest the the decision was driven by redesigning the space more for commercial event use not solely by Mitigating anti social behaviour ,thereby undermining the justification of solving behaviour issues via removal.

Theses Points suggest the Council failed in their duty to properly assess other non disruptive options before resorting to the removal of Community assets.

Point 9 Request an urgent halt to the works,to allow for a review of the  current proposals,for town end Pier gardens Point out the Councils failure  to maintain the gardens (causing the justification of restructuring ) is a failure  to mange public assets properly.

You can take action against the Council on these Points alone.

Point 10 request that the Funding be reallocate/d  to the opposite end of the Pier gardens ,towards the previous Fantasy island as the grounds are larger,there to accommodate the project and state a simple refurb of the town end pier gardens without heavy excavation is all that is required .Instead of destroying a much loved town end Pier gardens .

that  is causing a loss of amenity to the community and holiday makers alike,

Point 11 You can and should hold the council to account for this,they have failed in their duty of care and the excavations are clearly not necessary .

Contact the project managers and local councillor and local Mp ,see if you have any grounds for legal action against the council  which the Points highlighted suggest you do.

Write to the Chief executive and request an emergency  stop to the continuation of the town end Pier gardens excavations.

 You can also email the omnibus to potentially take action against the council ,who failed multiple times in preserving up keep of the town end Pier gardens stating only a refurb is necessary.Be Persistent in holding the Council to account ,You cannot let them get away with this.

A Judicial review can stop the works  but Complaining to the omnibus is considered more effective , 

Feedback proves the councils neglect of the gardens and anti social behaviour, guise was used for a total restructuring of town end pier gardens .

 

You may also want to take  this up with the Civic society phone number that can be found online they support ongoing issues located in grimsby and the heritage  office as council are guilty of removing assets  there is a lot of grounds you can hold the council to account and if your quick try to put a stop to the continuing works.

Businesses need to provide evidence for any profit lost,otherwise they will say there is no evidence but you have plenty on them just take note of all the above and challenge all the points raised.

Additionally you can address your complaint to the levelling up fund who allocated the council these funds for the Pier garden project,if you think the funds were used in favour of a refurbishment and Security measures which were not even considered in there grand plan  ,You can ask the levelling up fund to consider  maladministration on the Councils behalf .
