Thanks to your support, The Altavista Area Power Line Coalition is making progress!

I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting the Altavista Area Power Line Coalition. We are making great progress to stop a high voltage power line from running right through the middle of our local residential neighborhoods and destroying the future growth potential this project would cause. 

The response has been virtually 100% of the people living in these affected neighborhoods, that have said NO, WE DONT WANT OUR NEIGHBORHOODS DESTROYED and signed the petition as well as sharing it so all citizens living in the area will be familiar with the project.

Our Facebook page has served it's purpose well. Since it was created less than 2 months ago, it has received 49,218 views and 6,314 engagements (reactions, comments, shares, and clicks on the page links). WOW, how is that for getting the word out there?!!!

We have recently received letters of support from The Campbell County Board of Supervisors and The Altavista Town Council. Both groups sympathize and agree with our reasoning to oppose this power line project destroying our residential neighborhoods and stunting the growth of Altavista and the surrounding area.

Because of all this success and the speed at which it has been obtained, I have decided to put the petition on pause, so that it can be forwarded to all the decision makers of this project. The petition as well as the letters of support will be sent this week to APCO as well as our local and state government officials so that they can see where we stand and that we won't stand for the Altavista area's future to be destroyed. This petition may be reopened at a later date, so PLEASE continue to share the Facebook page with your friends, neighbors and anyone else that has an interest in making this area prosper. The latest news, updates and important dates will be posted there as it evolves.

Don't forget, APCO will be holding another open house to meet with local residents on January 21 from 5-7pm at the Altavista Area YMCA. Please make plans to attend. Your involvement is what it will take to keep Altavista the wonderful community that we have chosen to call home and keep us in a position for positive growth.
