The Altavista Area Power Line Coalition has made tremendous progress!
Thanks again to each and every one of you for supporting the Altavista Area Power Line Coalition. We have made great progress in preventing the high voltage power lines from running right through the middle of our neighborhoods and destroying the growth potential of the area.

As I have stated earlier, response has been virtually 100% of the people living in these affected neighborhoods. 100% have the same feeling, "WE DONT WANT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD DESTROYED". They not only signed the petition, but shared the Facebook page so all citizens living in the area will become familiar with the project, so even those that don't live in the affected neighborhoods but do care about what it can do to damage the Altavista area.

The Facebook page, created a little over a month ago has received 50,680 views and 6,389 engagements (reactions, comments, shares, and clicks on the page links).
We have received letters of support from The Campbell County Board of Supervisors and The Altavista Town Council. Both groups sympathize and agree with our reasoning to oppose this power line project and keep it from destroying our residential neighborhoods and crippling the growth of the Altavista area.
I have decided to put the petition on pause for the time being, so that the decision makers of this project can be made aware of our feelings and other steps can be implemented to keep the power line out of the back yards of our most populated neighborhoods. The petition as well as the letters of support will be sent this week to APCO as well as our local and state government officials.

As I have said before, the petition may be reopened at a later date, so PLEASE continue to share the Facebook page with your friends, neighbors and anyone that has an interest in our cause. Stay tuned. The latest news and updates will be posted as it evolves.
Reminder: APCO will be holding another open house to meet with local residents on January 21 from 5-7pm at the Altavista Area YMCA. PLEASE ATTEND. Your involvement is crucial to keep Altavista the community that we have chosen to call home and keep us in a position for positive growth long into the future!
