Today is an important day for this petition.

Today marked a key opportunity to submit public feedback on the proposed federal changes that would introduce or expand recreational hunting for certain migratory birds in Manitoba. Thanks to your support, those concerns were formally shared with the people responsible for these decisions.

At the time of submission, the petition had 384 signatures, along with a growing number of thoughtful and passionate comments from people who care deeply about wildlife stewardship in Manitoba. Those voices were reflected in the message that was sent.

We have now formally petitioned Environment and Climate Change Canada, including the Office of the Minister, the Canadian Wildlife Service, and other relevant decision-makers. Our submission called for a pause and a modern review process, and emphasized the importance of considering current science, cumulative ecological pressures, and public values when making wildlife decisions.

Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, and taken the time to add personal comments. Every signature strengthens this call, and every voice truly does make a difference.

As we hear back from decision-makers, we will share any responses or updates here so you can stay informed about what happens next.

If you haven’t already, please consider continuing to share the petition at LINK or https://c.org/d2CKhNJXSc

Momentum matters — and together, we are showing that Manitobans care deeply about thoughtful, responsible wildlife decision-making.

With gratitude,
Tamara Bodi
