The issue

Two weeks ago, my father passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories. Only three houses down the road from where I live is the Forrestfield cambridge reserve. This space is profoundly significant to me as it was the place my dad and I would often visit to walk our dog. These walks were more than a routine; they were moments filled with laughter, lessons, and love. The park served as a safe space for training my otherwise impatient and sometimes misbehaving dog. It was amidst the rustling leaves and open paths that I learned not just to walk but to bond with her in ways I didn’t know were possible.

However, the heartaches of losing special spaces to development loom large. The proposed changes to the Forrestfield cambridge reserve changes will disrupt not only the harmony of our community but also the personal connections many of us hold to this place. This park offers an invaluable refuge for people like me, who need a quiet, full of solace and familiarity, not only that this is the only natural bush with no construction done to it.

As urban developments continue to infringe on our natural sanctuaries, we must stand firm in protecting them. This park is not just an area of land but a treasure trove of memories and a pivotal community gathering spot. Altering its structure for modern utilities risks erasing the essence of what makes it unique.

We propose that the City Council reconsider the development plans and instead invest in maintaining the park as it currently stands in its natural and undeveloped state. By doing so, we preserve an essential community resource that serves as a haven for dog owners, kids, BMX enthusiasts, and other local residents seeking peace and recreation.

Let us unite to protect the cambridge reserve. Sign this petition to urge the authorities to recognize the irreplaceable value of this green retreat and to keep it intact for future generations, guaranteeing that more beautiful memories can be formed in this cherished setting. Together, we can ensure our voices are heard and revered, I have no fear to protest and support to go against this.
