The Issue

[Official Petition]

Living just a few miles away from the proposed site for the data center in Mount Shasta, CA, I am acutely aware of the potential impacts this development could have on our beloved community. Mount Shasta is known for its sacred indigenous landscapes, volcanic geological significance, beauty, glaciers, refreshing water, clean environment, and tranquil living, attracting visitors and residents who cherish its natural beauty, peace and serenity.

The introduction of a data center threatens this delicate balance, potentially causing irreversible damage to the environment, resident's health, property value, increasing noise pollution, and straining our local resources such as water and energy. Data centers are notorious for their high water and electricity consumption. I think we have enough power outages with fire season :) The operation of a data center could lead to significant depletion of our vital resources, impacting both the residents, tourism and the local ecosystem.

Moreover, the increased traffic and industrial activity associated with data centers can lead to noise pollution and deteriorate the quality of life for those residing nearby Spring Hill. The scenic views and calm vibe of Mount Shasta, which are major attractions for tourism and local enjoyment, could be overshadowed by the looming presence of industrial infrastructure.

It is crucial for Siskiyou County residents and visitors to have a say in the developments that affect their community. By proactively vetoing this data center, we can make an effort to preserve the natural beauty and environmental health of Mount Shasta, ensuring that it remains a haven for current residents and future generations.

Let's protect the character and resources of our community. Sign this petition to voice our opposition and make it clear that you do not support the establishment of a data center in Mount Shasta. Together, we can preserve our environment, the magnetic mountain and our quality of life.

UPDATED to global supporters who care about protecting Mount Shasta, a globally recognized landmark.
