The latest update is that Whinney Hill Landfill has now entered a stage of decommissioning. We are currently awaiting further details on what this will mean in practice — specifically whether SUEZ will begin winding down its landfill operations at the site, or whether it will continue accepting other waste through existing contracts once Lancashire County Council stops sending its remaining waste after 31 March 2026.

We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available in the Facebook group ‘Tipped Over The Edge’.
