For five years, Judge Amber Givens — an elected judge chosen by the people of Dallas County — has been targeted by Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s politically stacked Commission on Judicial Conduct. Not because she committed a crime. But because she challenged the systemic barriers to justice and threatened the status quo. 

Here are the facts:

• The Texas Rangers investigated every allegation against Judge Givens.
• A Republican District Attorney reviewed the full record.
• There was only one conclusion: Judge Givens committed no crime.
• Yet the Commission pushed forward anyway — driven by politics, not truth.

Now, on December 10–11, Judge Givens faces a trial designed to wear her down and send a message to any judge who dares to stand up for justice.

This isn’t just about one judge.
This is about the future of an independent judiciary in Texas.
This is about stopping a dangerous precedent where elected judges can be punished for challenging racism, advocating for equal treatment, or simply doing their jobs with integrity.

We, the undersigned, call on Governor Abbott and the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct to:

End the political targeting of Judge Amber Givens.
Dismiss all baseless complaints and stop weaponizing the judicial process.
Protect the independence of the judiciary from partisan interference.
