Below is a interesting link that anyone supportive of these efforts should appreciate....and the proponents of the proposed paved Minnesota River Trail would do well and good to better understand. It shows damage to DNR trails as the result of flooding. Note that the link is to a MNDNR website. Please understand. We are not anti-pavement. There are many places where a paved trail makes complete sense. In a known flood plain isn't one of them. We are not anti-DNR. They do many great things that benefit the citizens of Minnesota. What we take issue with is the system. The systems allows for millions of dollars to be spent on a trail with zero plan or budget to maintain that trail in a time when the DNR's Asset Preservation fund has a deficit in the range of $130,000,000.00. Asset Preservation is the money pool that maintenance repairs come from for DNR property and trails. How can you help! Help us stop any attempts to fund a paved trail. Contact your legislator and politely and respectfully request that they not approve any funding for the proposed paved Minnesota River Trail. Just a few clicks and fire off an email. http://www.gis.leg.mn/OpenLayers/districts/ Thank you for your support! #savetheriverbottoms http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/climate/floods/2007/floodphotos.html
