This article is definitely worth a read….. Can the public afford the exorbitant multi billion pound cost of Carbon Capture and Storage such as that proposed via the Peak Cluster Project?
Critics and environmental groups argue the Government’s strategy essentially acts as a massive public-funded lifeline for polluters. They point out that over half the money is designed to sustain or prop up fossil fuel and biomass infrastructure rather than transitioning entirely away from them. [1]

CCS is a “dangerous distraction” that locks the UK into expensive, high-carbon infrastructure while renewables sit ready to replace it. “This isn’t ‘net zero’. It gives reckless subsidies to hard-nosed lobbyists, and the public pays the price,”
“CCS is little more than greenwashing; the promise of a revolutionary technology to help tackle climate change which the fossil fuel industry knows will never materialises but is enough to persuade Governments to allow them to continue extracting oil and gas. “
