STOP The NOISE AND DUST POLLUTION Relocate the Hatfield McCoy Trail Access Point in Man

The Issue

I am a resident of Hensley Heights in Man, WV along with my neighbors,  we are being significantly disrupted due to the location of the access point to the Hatfield McCoy Trail. The trail brings an excessive amount of dust and noise into our neighborhood. Moreover, trail riders often ride in the night causing disruptions of the peace.

The Hatfield McCoy Trail System is one of West Virginia's most popular outdoor attractions. It attracts thousands each year who come for its extensive off-road vehicle trails (source: West Virginia Department of Tourism). While we appreciate its contribution to local tourism and economy, we believe that a balance must be struck between these benefits and our right as residents to enjoy peace in our homes.

The trail brings not only adventure seekers but also dust clouds that settle on our homes and cars. The noise from off-road vehicles is incessant throughout the day and sometimes night disturbing our peace. According to studies on environmental noise pollution, constant exposure can lead to stress-related illnesses such as high blood pressure and heart disease (source: World Health Organization). Furthermore, dust pollution can exacerbate respiratory problems like asthma (source: American Lung Association).

We propose that authorities consider relocating this access point away from residential areas. This action would not only reduce dust and noise pollution but also ensure safety for both residents and riders.

This petition is not against tourism or outdoor activities; it's about ensuring that everyone - both residents and visitors - can enjoy what Man has to offer without compromising health or quality of life. Please sign this petition if you agree with us!
