Mise à jour sur la pétitionStop the Naked Bike Ride from being in public spacesI stuck my neck out about the NBR, did you?

When I first heard about the Naked Bike Ride I found myself reading about the event and what it stands for. As an update and on the 4/12/25 I captured the following;

The WNBR stands for a cleaner environment, safer roads, healthier lifestyles, better attitudes! The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists and is a protest against car culture. WNBR is a worldwide campaign with a number of linked themes.

Its objectives are to:

  1. protest against the global dependency on oil
  2. curb car culture
  3. obtain real rights for cyclists
  4. demonstrate the vulnerability of cyclists on city streets
  5. celebrate body freedom

Whilst I do not object to any of the reasons the WNBR is campaigning for, I do object to the naked part, and at the end of the 5 listed reasons they add in 'celebrate body freedom'.

I understand the importance of body empowerment, and have taken great care to speak to naturists about this. The majority of those I spoke to who wish to celebrate body freedom, feel it is a personal and private event - that if necessary should be experienced in a safe and respectful space with those who understand the need to express body freedom. No naturist I spoke to felt body freedom was about waving your bits about on the streets in public - nor did they believe it was sensible to normalise nakedness in this way.

So, my argument against it is lateral with my primary focus being about child protection, and the reality that this event offers none.

Thank you to everyone supporting me. I see and hear you x
