In today’s news (April 2026), reports confirm that the co‑founder of the Bellingham Naked Bike Ride has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography*. According to an article published by KISM.com, the man’s partner alerted police after discovering disturbing material on his computer.

There’s no victory in being right about safeguarding when children are being harmed. When an incident from an event you’ve been warning about hits the headlines (link in thread), it doesn’t feel like vindication, it feels like failure. Failure to listen, act, protect. This was never about me being right. It’s about asking why concerns were dismissed, why checks weren’t stronger, and why it takes harm for people to pay attention. Children shouldn’t have to be the evidence. 

This case is deeply troubling, and it reinforces the urgent need for safeguarding standards at public nudity events. When organisers and participants are not vetted, children and families are left vulnerable to those who may exploit these environments.

*And to be absolutely clear, ref article and general news on this. There is no such thing as child pornography. This is child sexual abuse material/ imagery. It is a serious criminal act.
