I am part of a practicing Hindu family. Through experience and news, I am saddened to witness the propagation of misinformation about our religion and community. It's deeply discomforting to hear of hate speech and biased commentary targeting Hindus, and even more so when children become the victims because of the skewed perceptions proliferated.

Such hateful acts are often based on incomplete information or outright false narratives circulated by some media outlets. It's evident that these negative portrayals not only harm the immediate image and perception of the community but also instigate harmful discriminatory actions.

The Pew Research Center's recent report shows that in the US, Hindus face more religious discrimination than other religious groups. The report indicates that nearly 18% of U.S. Hindus reported being discriminated against because of their religion in the past year, a higher percentage than any other religion in the survey.

Our religions and beliefs constitute an inherent aspect of our identity, and being subjected to hatred due to misconceptions or malicious intent is fundamentally against the principles of a diverse society.
