Stop the Mega Data Center in Clarksville, Arkansas

Stop the Mega Data Center in Clarksville, Arkansas
The Issue
A company most Arkansans have never heard of is trying to build a massive, multi-phase data center in Clarksville—and locals are being left in the dark.
Developer Serverfarm, backed by a global real estate firm, wants to build six massive buildings across 135 acres—just north of I-40 and right next to the Johnson Regional Medical Center. The project could total over 2 million square feet and cost $8 billion. And they haven’t even named the end customer.
The city’s planning commission already approved Phase 1. But local residents haven’t had a say. There’s been no public hearing on energy use, water needs, noise levels, or environmental impact. And the company still hasn’t answered basic questions.
We demand the City of Clarksville and Johnson County pause this project immediately until the public gets full answers to key questions:
- Who is the end user of this data center?
- How much power and water will it use, and who pays for it?
- Will Clarksville residents face higher utility rates as a result?
- What environmental protections will be in place for runoff, air quality, and light pollution?
- Why was this project advanced before full public review?
We are not against technology—but we are against secrecy, unchecked land development, and corporate projects that prioritize private profit over public interest.
Arkansas has just begun offering major tax breaks for data centers—often with no accountability. This project could reshape Clarksville for decades, and residents deserve more than closed-door decisions and vague promises.
Pause the project. Hold a public hearing. Tell Serverfarm: Arkansas land, water, and communities are not for sale.
