Stop the Maverick Gas Station development at Indian School and Carlisle

Stop the Maverick Gas Station development at Indian School and Carlisle
The Issue
The Netherwood Park neighborhood deserves development that will bring businesses that will maintain a safe and enjoyable life for our community. The proposed Maverick gas station at the corner of Indian School and Carlisle threatens this vision. Our area, known for its family-friendly environment and tranquil atmosphere, faces the risk of increased traffic, pollution, and safety concerns.
This development is not suitable for a neighborhood like ours. A gas station would not only increase traffic congestion but also contribute to noise and air pollution. Moreover, it raises significant safety concerns, particularly for the children and pedestrians who frequent the area. Statistics from similar developments indicate a rise in traffic accidents and crime rates, which could negatively impact our quality of life.
Most importantly the proposed development does not meet the mandatory qualifications for the conditional use criteria.
Instead of a gas station, we should encourage businesses that align with the community’s values and needs. Imagine a restaurant or a community center that serves as a hub for social gatherings and activities. These types of establishments would not only sustain the neighborhood's charm but also enhance property values and foster a sense of community.
Adding an additional gas station (currently 3 on one block) would exacerbate the situation, creating hazards and reducing our neighborhood's safety and attractiveness.
We urgently request that the City Council and planning authorities reconsider the proposal and engage with residents in a more meaningful dialogue about the future of our neighborhood. We need to prioritize sustainable, community-friendly development that benefits everyone.
Help us preserve the spirit of Netherwood Park by stopping this gas station development. Sign this petition today and support a future that reflects our community's values and aspirations.
