Stop the installation of solar panels in our small community

Stop the installation of solar panels in our small community
The Issue
DENY Petition No. 1696 – Terryville
Solar One, LLC
Living right next to the proposed site for solar panel installation in our small community, we are deeply concerned about the potential impacts on our homes and livelihoods. The charm of our community lies in its pristine natural setting, which could be irrevocably altered by the influx of industrial-scale solar panels. The location that would eradicate Tonns farm and we worry about the reduction in property values, the changes to the landscape, the impact of the surrounding homes burning if there was to be a fire, and the impact on local wildlife. Locally, if there was to be a fire there would be no means to extinguish it.
Solar energy, while essential for combating climate change, should not come at the expense of local ecosystems and resident well-being. There must be a more suitable location for such a project that does not disrupt a community that thrives on its environmental assets. According to data from various environmental studies, large solar farms can significantly alter the land they occupy, affecting flora and fauna and potentially leading to unforeseen ecological consequences.
Moreover, the aesthetic and cultural value of our rural community's landscape is significant, and the introduction of vast arrays of panels could detract from the area's natural beauty. Recent surveys in similar regions where large-scale solar projects have been implemented indicate a decline in property values and a shift in community demographics that favor commercial interests over local priorities. There will be no financial benefit for our town nor its residents.
We call on local planners and government officials to reconsider this project and explore alternative sites that do not compromise our community's integrity. There are often underutilized industrial areas or brownfields that could support such renewable energy initiatives without encroaching on residential neighborhoods.
Please join us in preserving the unique character of our community by signing this petition to halt the installation of solar panels in our small community. Your support can help protect our homes, environment, and way of life.
