While incarcerated in the D.C. Jail, Joel Castón was elected as an ANC Commissioner in a breakthrough election. He is set to be released on parole next month and has a pending resentencing hearing for expedited release.

Yet, we were just alerted that he will be sent back to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and transferred out of D.C. tomorrow. This is when his constituents need him most.

This inhumane and unjustifiable transfer will not only hinder his ability to represent the individuals in Ward 7, it will also separate Joel from his friends, family, and supporters in the D.C. community. 

Join us in calling on the USPC and US Marshals to prevent Commissioner Caston’s transfer and grant his immediate release. He is a valued member of our community & deserves to come home.
