It’s that time again to update you on our Save Our Seals from Flying Rings campaign…we have certainly not been putting our feet up and neither have many of you!

Another Local Authority in Wales, Neath and Port Talbot Council, have joined the increasing number of Local Authorities across the UK to voluntarily ban the sale and use of flying rings.

The Neath and Port Talbot Council Leader will be writing to the UK and Welsh Governments calling for action…this is a significant step in the right direction to bring about change.

BBC Breakfast and various other radio and TV outlets covered our Save Our Seals from Flying Rings campaign last month raising public awareness that flying rings cause much pain and suffering to our seals. 

This has resulted in our petition growing and now we are heading towards that magic figure of 50,000 signatures…people are certainly showing their distaste for misery making flying rings.

Our campaign has, from its initial launch, been community focussed. We are supporting the community to take action by raising awareness, providing resources and guidance of how you can get involved and importantly highlighting our successes.

This summer has seen the campaign flourish as this photo shows but what are the next steps?

As we head towards that 50,000 milestone, we are hoping to secure a well-known celebrity to support us so watch this space and we’ll update you soon.

Sharing our QR code or petition link to as many people as possible will get us to that 50,000 so please pull out all the stops  

Reaching this magic number will certainly help us get our various Members of Parliament on board taking the campaign to the very heart of Power.

It’s so pleasing to see that many of you are accessing our campaign resources on our Seal Alliance website and writing to your local Councillor to secure their support.

It only takes one Councillor to start the ball rolling so you can make a huge difference by using the template letter we have created.

We have many more resources for you on the Seal Alliance website including posters, presentations, guidance etc for you to use.

What we as a community have achieved in just a few months is phenomenal…yes there’s a long way to go but we are prepared for that and always knew it would take time.

These coming months are crucial before these flying rings start appearing again in our shops and on our beaches.
