Stop the Implementation of the Conversion Therapy Ban Law

The Issue

I am a UK citizen deeply concerned about our freedom of speech and religious freedom in the uk.

The proposed ban on conversion therapy is personal to me, as it infringes upon these fundamental liberties that we hold dear in our society.

It’s important to remember that some individuals seek this support voluntarily to align their sexual identity with their personal or religious beliefs. By banning conversion therapy, we are denying them the opportunity for self-determination and infringing on their right to religious freedom.

Moreover, religions should have the liberty to share what scripture says on sexual identity without fear of legal repercussions. To allow open dialogue, prayer support and discussion around these complex issues is fundamental to religious freedom and freedom of speech as well as freedom of choice.

According to statistics from Stonewall UK (2018), 5% of LGBTQI+ individuals have chosen conversion therapies. While this number may seem small, it represents thousands of people who could be denied access to services they personally desire if this ban goes into effect.

I urge you all - let us stop the implementation of the Conversion Therapy Ban Law until further discussions can be had about its potential implications for freedom of speech and religion in our country.

Please sign this petition if you believe in upholding these fundamental rights for all citizens.
