Petition updateStop the imminent removal of Abbey Kyeyune - a gay man - back to UgandaAbbey remains in detention and the stress of threatened deportation is showing

When the Home Office attempted to deport Abbey some weeks ago, his legal representatives made some urgent fresh submissions to try and delay his removal. These were rapidly dismissed.
His representatives then sent a more extensive detailed set of submissions which pointed to some news coverage about Abbey's case, including this petition, and included some other updated evidence. These submissions were duly refused by the Home Office, and all your support for Abbey via the petition was dismissed as something which simply 're-advocate the account Abbey relied upon in his discredited asylum claim'. Clearly your voices, all 1300+ of them, do not matter to the civil servants - not judges! - civil servants who have the absolute power of civil liberty or random imprisonment over the lives of asylum seekers who have committed no crime.
After the last set of submissions were rejected, a pre-action letter indicating intent to seek a judicial review was sent to the Home Office. At the time of writing, we await the outcome of that letter. But inevitably, as time passes, the strain on Abbey is beginning to show and the inhumanity of his detention is becoming more and more evident.
Abbey wishes to send his sincere and deepest thanks for the support you have already shown him. If you feel there are further actions that you can take to demand justice for Abbey, he and all his campaigners would be most grateful for anything that improves his chances of surviving the dangers he presently faces.
If there are further developments we will send an update.
Many thanks.
