Stop the Government from Killing 450,000 Owls

The Issue

The Barred Owl is facing an unjust fate: A federal plan proposes killing over 450,000 of these birds to protect the endangered northern spotted owl. This solution — to take lives to save others — is costly, inhumane, and unnecessary.

Barred owls are not villains; they’re victims of environmental changes. Their spread on the West Coast is a consequence of habitat loss and climate change, not an act of aggression. We cannot justify killing them to preserve another species.

This plan is also a tremendous waste of taxpayer money. At $3,000 per owl, the cost could reach over $1.3 billion. These funds could be better spent on habitat restoration and humane solutions for both species.

The answer lies in working with nature, not against it. We call for the safe, humane relocation of these owls and the protection of both species through peaceful, sustainable efforts. We urge lawmakers to reject this harmful plan and invest in alternatives that respect all wildlife. We believe in solutions that preserve life, not destroy it. Sign today to save these owls from being killed!
