My heart bleeds for the millions of Amharas and Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia who are suffering deeply at the hands of their own government. People like me, who were once serene in their farm lands, find themselves expelled. Our homes have been demolished, our businesses destroyed. Countless lives have been stolen, hundreds of thousands are reported murdered and mass-graved, prisoners to a plight they did not choose.

The Ethiopian government, shockingly, is deploying its own National Army to facilitate this terrible assault on human dignity. A silent world watches, while echoes of history's worst atrocities threaten to rear their ugly head again on African soil. Will we allow a modern-day African high scale Auschwitz to be repeated? This situation cries out for us to rise. We cannot be the generation that merely watches.

Reliable sources and reports suggest that this situation is rapidly escalating into genocide. Yet, hardly any substantial action or intervention has been undertaken by the world community to curb the horror that unfolds day by day. The time to act is now. If we wait longer, our inaction may cost countless innocent lives.

This appeal is to the world community. The gravity of the persecutions endured by the Amhara Ethnolinguistic people and the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian followers must lead us to urgent, swift interventions. We must pressure the Ethiopian government to halt these atrocities immediately and hold those responsible accountable.
