Here are some planning issues you may wish to use when submitting an objection to this proposal, It's better to use your own words, but, these are some of the valid points raised by many who are concerned about this "MEGA" farm.
- the Cornwall Local Plan is to support sustainable development by balancing economic, environmental and social issues such that the meeting of present days needs does not compromise the needs of future generations. The economic benefits of the proposed development are significantly outweighed by the environmental and social dis-benefits. It is at odds with Policy 1 of the Local Plan.
- the development is of a large scale and mass and will have an adverse visual impact on the local landscape, with views of the proposed development arising from a number of surrounding locations. The proposed development therefore contravenes Policy 2 and 23 of the Local Plan.
- the development is considered to have an adverse impact on the amenity of both nearby neighbours, and residents of hamlets and villages that lie in close proximity to the development site as a result of dust, light, noise, odour, vermin and air and water based pathogens. The proposed development is therefore at odds with Policy 13 and Policy 16 of the Local Plan.
- the development is considered to have an adverse effect on the health and wellbeing of local people, communities and workers. Further, the development rather than protecting and alleviating risk to people and the environment from unsafe, unhealthy and polluted environments could exasperate harmful impacts and health risks such as air and noise pollution and land and water contamination.
The proposed development therefore contravenes policy 17 of the local plan.
- the development will necessitate significant vehicle movements in the servicing of the proposed agricultural activity, and as such will have an adverse impact on the local road network. The proposed development therefore contravenes Policy 27 of the Local Plan.
- the development has the potential to damage the economy of Cornwall in general and agriculture in particular. This makes the application of critical interest not only to the parishioners concerned but everyone living in Cornwall.
- the development, in all likely hood, would damage the reputation of existing free range egg producers in Cornwall. With eggs being shipped out of the region for grading etc, industrial sized movements of feed and excrement, cropping land turned into hard standing, sheds, drainage systems road ways and bunding the application mocks the idea of sustainability.
In addition, we request the Local Planning Authority to note that a number of similar development proposals in Devon have in recent years been disallowed on appeal by the Planning Inspectorate largely on the basis of the adverse impact of such development on the amenity of local residents.
