Stop the Expansion of the Marana ICE Detention Center

Stop the Expansion of the Marana ICE Detention Center
The Issue
A former prison in Marana, Arizona may soon hold hundreds more people in immigration detention.
Federal plans would increase the facility’s capacity from 513 detainees to 775. That means more than 250 additional people could be held inside this center.
Behind those numbers are real human beings — parents, workers, and people seeking safety.
Immigration attorneys and advocates warn that when detention centers quickly increase the number of people they hold, conditions can get worse. Access to medical care, safety, and legal help can become strained when facilities are pushed beyond their limits.
These concerns are especially serious right now. Recent reporting shows deaths in immigration detention have reached their highest level in more than two decades.
Before expanding detention at the Marana facility, the public deserves answers.
Can this center safely care for hundreds more people?
Are there enough medical staff, legal resources, and oversight to protect the people held there?
We are calling on the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to pause this expansion and conduct a full independent review before increasing capacity.
Immigration policy may be debated in Washington. But basic human dignity should never be up for debate.
No detention center should expand without clear safeguards to protect the people inside.
Sign this petition to demand transparency, accountability, and humane treatment in immigration detention.
